Can I Experiment with the Visual Builder?

Can I Experiment with the Visual Builder?

Yes. You can experiment with the Divi Builder and Visual Builder to learn how the page builder works and to try different layouts or content changes.

However, you should avoid experimenting directly on your live website pages. If changes are made incorrectly, it can break the layout or affect how the page displays.

If a page is broken due to edits made in the builder, repairs may require billable work to restore the layout.

For this reason, it is strongly recommended that you create a separate project where you can safely test layouts and features.

Create a Safe Place to Experiment

You can create a project specifically for experimenting with the Divi builder.

Step 1 — Create a Test Category

From your dashboard:

  1. Go to Projects

  2. Create a new category such as:

  • My Experiments

  • My Projects

  • Test Projects

This category will be used for practice and testing.

Step 2 — Create a New Project

To create a test project:

  1. Go to Projects

  2. Click Add New

  3. Enter a title for your project

  4. Assign it to the category you created (for example My Experiments)

Step 3 — Build with Divi

You can now build and experiment with your project using either builder option.

  1. Click Use Divi Builder to open the standard builder interface inside the dashboard.

or

  1. Click Use Visual Builder to edit the page directly on the front end of the website.

Once the builder is open, you can experiment with:

  • Sections

  • Rows

  • Modules

  • Layouts

This allows you to safely test different designs and learn how the Divi builder works without affecting the live pages on your website.

Recommended Guidelines

When experimenting with the builder:

  • Focus on learning how sections, rows, and modules work

  • Try different layouts and design elements

  • Save your changes periodically while working

Avoid deleting or modifying major sections on your live pages unless you understand how the layout is structured.
