Creating a Variable Product

A variable product is used when one product has multiple options such as size, color, style, or other selectable choices.

Create the Product

1. Go to Products.
2. Click Add New.
3. Enter the product title, long description, and short description if used.

Set Product Type

In the Product Data section, change the product type to Variable Product.

Add Product Attributes

You must add attributes before you can set variations.

1. Open the Attributes tab inside Product Data.
2. Add an attribute such as Size or Color.
3. Enter the attribute values, such as Small, Medium, Large.
4. Check the box Used for variations.
5. Click Save Attributes.

Create Variations

1. Open the Variations tab.
2. Select Create variations from all attributes.
3. Click Go.

Configure Each Variation

Open each variation and set:

• variation price
• sale price if needed
• stock quantity if inventory is tracked
• variation image if needed

Each variation must have a price set or it will not be purchasable.

Other Product Settings

Also set:

• featured product status if used
• product category
• product tags
• featured image and gallery images

Publish the Product

Review the product details and click Publish.
